Primary School (Grade 1 - Grade 5 / Ages 6 - 10 as of August 31, 2026)

Class Structure Overview (School Year 2026-2027):

Grade 1 & 2, Grade 3 & 4 (half of Grade 4), Grade 4 & 5 (half of Grade 4)

Located on the second floor of the main building, our Primary School occupies three dedicated classrooms. While our core curriculum is based on the Cambridge Primary Programme, we distinctively integrate the Singapore Mathematics curriculum. This approach allows us to foster a deep, conceptual understanding of mathematics from an early age.

At Camelot International School, we foster a spirit of cooperation over competition by adopting a mixed-grade classroom model. Our five primary grades are organized into three distinct homeroom classes. In these collaborative environments, students learn subjects such as Science, Social Studies, Art, and PE together.

However, to ensure targeted skill development, English and Mathematics are taught separately by grade level. Class sizes are kept small to maximize attention; we aim for approximately 12 students per grade, with a special cap of 8 students for Grade 1 to ensure a supportive start to their education.

Why Adopt a Mixed-Grade Classroom System?

Mixed-grade classrooms, where students of different ages and grades are grouped together, can offer many benefits. One significant benefit is the individualized learning experience that students can receive. Teachers have the ability to personalize instruction to each student's specific needs, abilities, and learning styles, providing a more tailored learning experience.

Another advantage of mixed-grade classrooms is that they encourage peer-to-peer learning, where older students can mentor younger students, and younger students can learn from older ones.

This can create a sense of community and support, leading to more positive and collaborative learning environments. Additionally, mixed-grade classrooms can increase socialization and empathy, as students interact with and learn from peers of different ages and backgrounds.

This can lead to a more well-rounded educational experience, which can improve behaviour, reduce competition, and provide more flexibility in the curriculum.

What is Cambridge Primary?

(from Cambridge Assessment International Education)

Although the Cambridge Primary Curriculum begins from age 5 (Kindergarten), at Camelot, the students' education begins from age 6 (Grade 1). Please check our Qualifying Ages page for more detail.

Cambridge Primary starts your child on an exciting educational journey, setting out what
they should be able to do at each stage of their primary schooling. It is the first stage of our
Cambridge Pathway programme that prepares students with the knowledge and skills they
need for life, helping them thrive at school, university and work.

Our programme is built around what matters most to your child as they take their first steps in education:

A broad curriculum for a balanced education:

A wide choice of 10 subjects, including English, mathematics and science. There are also plenty of opportunities to develop creativity, expression and personal wellbeing through subjects like art, music and physical education.

A robust foundation with excellent progression:

Each stage of the programme builds on the previous one or from other educational systems, so your child will feel confident that they are ready for the next step of their education.

A global learner in a local context:

Cambridge Primary helps students discover new abilities and a wider world. Subjects like Cambridge Global Perspectives™ nurture a broad outlook, helping your child to understand their own culture, community and identity as well as those of others in different parts of the world.

A flexible approach:

Cambridge Primary works alongside local and national curricula, giving your child an international education that fits into their context.

An aligned programme based on the latest research:

We believe education works best when curriculum, teaching, learning and assessment align. This way, your child can enjoy a richer learning experience and develop as a life-long learner.
