-
Please do not apply for Grade 5 if you intend to transfer back to a local Japanese school during the Secondary years.
-
Progression from Primary through to Graduation is performance-based and not guaranteed. Students who do not meet academic expectations may be held back.
-
We cannot accept applicants who require ESL support or Japanese nationals with no prior experience in an English-speaking educational environment.
-
Sibling applications are accepted.
For IGCSE & A-Level Applicants
-
The depth of study required for Cambridge IGCSE and A-Levels is immense, demanding a level of critical thinking and English fluency far beyond standard curriculums. Before applying, please read more about the specific academic challenges and English requirements to succeed in the curriculum. Read more
-
Students entering the second year of IGCSE must have studied the GCSE or IGCSE curriculum at their previous school.
To Families with Japanese Citizenship Wishing to Apply
For applicants holding Japanese citizenship, there is an increasing trend where local authorities (such as the Board of Education) strongly urge children to attend Japanese schools during the compulsory education period (ages 6–15).
Please be aware that local authorities do not guarantee recognition of international school attendance in all cases.
Furthermore, there are significant challenges associated with maintaining English proficiency while living in a Japanese-dominant environment. Even in a metropolis like Tokyo, maintaining English ability and academic performance requires continuous educational cooperation and support from the family at home.
Due to these factors, and to preserve the immersive English educational environment within our school, the admission screening process for Japanese applicants is conducted more strictly than for applicants from native English-speaking backgrounds.
We kindly ask that you give these points serious consideration before submitting your application.
